Natural Deodorant: Why Make the Switch?

Like brushing your teeth, rolling on your deodorant or antiperspirant in the morning is a part of a daily routine and isn't really something you think twice about. But have you ever taken a look at the ingredients?

When it comes to a product you use on a daily basis, making the swap from conventional drug store varieties to a natural product may save your health in the long run.

Many name brand deodorants and antiperspirants contain harmful chemicals including aluminum which block your pores and keep you from sweating – what then happens to all that sweat that can’t escape your body? Sweating is a natural process that happens when we're under pressure, too hot or when naturally detoxing; therefore, blocking sweat with antiperspirants can be dangerous.

Although these sweat blocking formulas are available in intoxicating scents that mask odours, manufacturers are not inclined to disclose what makes up those fragrances which can contain up to hundreds of chemicals.. yikes!

Having made the swap ourselves, we have tried and testing many natural varieties of deodorant. Before you go wasting your money like we did, we want to share with you our two favourite brands and scent varieties that worked for us.

Love Fresh

We LOVE this local Toronto brand for their deliciously scented body lotions, scrubs and deodorants. Our favourite scents are Moroccan Rose, Lemon Verbena and Lavender. We find we may need to reapply once more in the afternoon but the product lasts forever.

We recently introduced their Baking Soda Free Eucalyptus and Spearmint stick deodorant to our boutique.

Consonant

With Consonant's commitment to clean, safe and organic ingredients, plus products that actually work, it's safe to say Consonant is our go to for skin care. We are also excited to introduce their dealkalizing deodorant to our online boutique! This stick contains pH balancing ingredients that naturally kill door causing bacteria for 24 hours.

Making the switch to a Natural Deodorant may take some getting used to, but how can one refuse using a product that will give you the peace of mind that what is going on (and in) your skin is chemical free?
