This month’s box contains some culinary favourites and staples. All high-quality and health-conscious.

Celtic Sea Salt

This Light Grey Celtic Sea Salt is quality certified and has more nutrients than table salt and provides a natural balance of minerals and trace elements. This sea salt is hand-harvested, sun-dried whole salt from one of the most pristine coastal regions of France with no additives! 

Lower in sodium, additive free, certified Kosher, non GMO, gluten free and vegan.

Lee’s Ghee

This ghee is hand crafted in small batches using unsalted, organic,cultured butter. It’s great for everyday use. Plain Jane is ideal to use as a cooking fat in place of olive oil or butter for high temperature cooking because it is very stable and doesn’t burn or change its structure up to very high temperatures (230 °C). Because of the bacterial cultures present in the cultured, organic butter we use to make our ghee, this ghee will change flavour over time.

Cultured ghee is marginally healthier than regular ghee and the bacterial cultures present in the ghee improve the flavour over time, much like a good wine or cheese. The culturing process stops when ghee is refrigerated, so you have the option of letting it age unrefrigerated or keeping it in the fridge for a sweeter taste.

Jaswant’s Kitchen Tadka Masala

Jaswant is a small family owned and operated business that produces easy-to-use, all natural Indian spice blends. They are all hand-crafted and produced in Canada. They source great quality whole and ground spices.

The spice that we have included in this box is one of the most popular from Jaswant’s Kitchen. Tadka is the flavour base of almost all Indian dishes. It is the process of frying onions, garlic and ginger in oil along with many aromatic spices. It is what brings an Indian dish to life.

By simply mixing this spice blend with water, you create an “instant tadka”. This allows many of our recipes to be cooked using little to no oil, making our versions of these dishes healthier, while still preserving all of the flavour. This is one of my absolute favourite culinary items. It’s great on salads, meat, seafood and veggies! 100% natural, this product is free from preservatives, pesticides, chemicals, additives and dyes. Created from an ancient Greek recipe, Acropolis Organics mousto balsamic vinegar is made from Romeiki grapes to deliver a taste as rich and dynamic as Crete’s history and culture.

Unlike most modern balsamic to which cane sugar is added, our Mousto Balsamic is enhanced with Petimezi - a natural, ancient grape molasses, which gives our vinegar a full fruity sweetness. It’s then aged in oak barrels for six years to further enrich its flavour.

Beekeeper's Naturals Bee Propolis Throat Spray

I carry this around with me all of the time.  I use it on a daily basis, but defintiely when I feel like I’m coming down with something or have a tickle in my throat.

Research has shown that propolis possesses antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, anti-inflammatory and antibiotic properties. 

Propolis has been used as a medicine since ancient times.  It was listed as an official drug by London pharmacopoeias in the 17th to heal wounds and regenerate tissues. Propolis is often called “Russian Penicillin” and is one of the most frequently used remedies in the Balkan states.

Yes, Peas! Tropical Trail Mix

This is a new chickpea snack created by a Holistic Nutritionist here in the GTA.  We were so happy to sample her creations.  My personal favourite is the tropical trail mix.

Roasted chickpeas with a hint of coconut oil and use dried fruits and other superfoods that do not contain sulphites, added sugar, preservatives or other artificial ingredients.  This yummy organic snack is cholesterol free, low in sodium, a high source of fibre and protein, and a good source of iron.

Strawesome Glass Straw

 

I love using glass straws for so many reasons.  Not only are they good for the environment but they are also great to drink your smoothies with.  I find I drink more water when I use a straw as well!

They are made of borosilicate glass tubing, which is the strongest commercially available glass. This is the same glass that Pyrex® is made from.  Borosilicate glass is also non-toxic, so you can feel confident when drinking hot or cold liquids that no toxins are leaching into your beverage.

I’ve heard so many things about konjac sponges and charcoal for your skin, so I was excited to see this!  Unfortunately, I have a rash on my face so I can’t try it out right now, but I’m looking forward to once things clear up.

Consonant Natural Foaming Face Wash

Again, haven’t tried this out yet because my face is not cooperating, but this looks awesome!  It’s gentle, removes makeup, and is pH balanced so you don’t need to follow-up with a toner.  Plus, as someone with sensitive skin, I appreciate that it is unscented.

Honest Leaf Tea Serene

I’ve heard a lot of great things about this Toronto-based tea company, which uses organic herbs, spices, and tea leaves to create wellness teas.  

K’s NRG Bars: Original

These energy bars are locally handmade and packed with nutritious ingredients like pumpkin and sesame seeds, amaranth flour, and chia seeds.

Hemp Heart Bites

I’ve heard a lot about these bites, so I was excited to see these in the box!  And, I wasn’t disappointed.  These little bits are crunchy, and the perfect blend of sweetness and nuttiness.  Great for a snack, especially as they are high in protein and Omega-3’s!

Consonant DHE Mask

This is a multi-targeted mask – it’s intended to detoxify, hydrate, and exfoliate, and it has lots of great ingredients like Manicougan clay, sea algae, and Alpha Hydroxy fruit enzymes.  I’m looking forward to trying this out!

Final Thoughts

I was really impressed by the Jule’s Wellness box!  I felt like it was packed with a lot of high-quality items, which is great value for the money.  I also love the variety of products, because I don’t always want to subscribe to multiple healthy boxes, and I feel like the variety is just perfect.  I was also introduced to a lot of new brands because of this box, and I love that Jule’s Wellness features local companies!
